The Versace X H&M just hit the stores and already speculation on who's next in line for the designer collaboration has risen with Tom Ford (and just today Thom Browne) as a possible candidate. In lieu of the swirling rumour mill, why not throw more fuel to the fire and give you my list of who should collaborate with H&M next.
1. Balenciaga : known for its strong tailoring and structure, I would love for Nicholas Ghuesqiere to create a collection full of blazers and coats with modern design and traditional tailoring.
2.Prada: Miuccia's collection always require you to marinate in it before you become full fledged obsessed. Every season is so different from the other that it would be interesting to capture the essence of Prada in a single capsule collection. Needless to say, it would worth lining up for.
3.Alexander Wang: with an "off-duty model" aesthetic it would be easy to translate Wang's look in the streets. Already a darling in the fashion industry, a collaboration with H&M will just cement him as a house hold name and attract more fans to his already accessible designs.
Check out the rest of my choice after the jump!
4. Proenza Schouler: I know, I know, they already did a collection with Target four years ago but reading this list, one can dream. With a focus on intricate and interesting textures and fabricaction, I'd love to see Jack and Lazaro create a cool girl/lady-like mash up in hard to emulate fabrics and possibly a bag that is half as cool as a PS1. Plus who wants to finally see their take on menswear?!
5. Celine: it was only a few seasons ago when Phoebe Philo changed the fashion landscape (to an extent) with her debut collection at Celine. What seemingly was overnight, a shift in a more minimalistic and impeccable tailoring became the fashion du jour. If Celine is interested in sharing this aesthetic to the rest of the world a collaboration with H&M would be perfect. I for one would happily comply.
6. Givenchy : known for its dark beauty aesthetic, Givenchy would be perfect for a capsule collection that coincide with fall such as the H&M collaborations. I would love if they came out with a witchy/gothic/punk inspired collection with sharp tailoring, strong prints, and hardware that packs a bite.
