Isabel Marant Pour H&M

Let the countdown begin: Isabel Marant is collaborating with H&M. Known for her 'urban attitude, boho elegance and rock 'n' roll spirit' the French designer will be creating a collection based on her signature style and 'aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives.' The collection will feature clothing and accessories for women, teenager, and for the first time, mens. It will be available November 14th.

I don't know why, but Marant should have been on any fashion person's shortlist of most likely to collaborate with H&M and I completely missed it. Marant is a relevant designer - the one behind the sneaker wedge epidemic - whose aesthetic is widespread and especially appealing to young adults (read: H&M gold mine). Isabel Marant is also in expansion mode and surely a collaboration like this will be a catalyst.

The collaboration will also be a complete 180 from last year's collaboration with Martin Margiela. It was conceptual, artisinal, and understandably, a hard sell to the masses. Isabel Marant's philosophy on the other hand, is more in line with H&M's. "I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives, with a certain carefree style."

This collection will surely be an easy sell even if you're not familiar with Isabel Marant. My concern perhaps, is I associate Isabel Marant as a summer designer more than a fall one (I did like her last fall collection which is a departure for her). Who knows, maybe a spring collection is in the cards... Also, I hope that Marant maintains quality; just because something is 'carefree' doesn't mean it should be sloppy. Also, I'm curious how Marant will translate her aesthetic to a mens collection. Regardless, I expect to see easy pieces you could wear to a festival or a rock concert with of course, a French sensibility, and come November, it will be a reality.

P.S. Want a replica of this coat already.
