Oscars 2012 Best Dressed

The red carpet segment of the Oscars just wrapped up. As usual some misses but for the most part a great turn out of beautiful dressed actresses this year. Here is my best dressed list:

Emma Stone

Red was a big colour for the Oscars this season and Emma Stone wore this Giambatista Valli with a big neck bow. Finally somebody wore Giambatista Valli at the Oscars and it looked great on Emma Stone. She continues her streak as one of the best dressed newcomer.

Rooney Mara

One of the most anticipated red carpet appearance is Rooney Mara. I cannot tell you how many times I've heard 'she needs to wear something from Givenchy.' And that she did. Not the one from the latest fall collection mind you but a couture piece from Spring 09 instead. She has been so consistent with her sartorial choices for her red carpet circuit for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and this was no exception. This is expected but unexpected.

Gwyneth Paltrow

If there was one ultimate best dressed on the Oscars this year, it would hands down go to Gwyneth Paltrow. This white Tom Ford gown and floor length cape just ticked off all the boxes. Simple but dramatic. Graceful but strong. It was different from what everyone else was wearing and nobody else could have pulled this off as well as she did. I didn't even know she was going to be there. Gwyneth was on a league of her own and my favourite best dressed of the night.
