Throwback: Alexander Wang S/S 2010

Have I been able to not talk about Alexander Wang this month at all? I have? Well here is another one...

There are shows that stick with you long after you have seen it and this is one of them for me.

First of all, as if the clothes were not enough, I also anticipate the runway music . Because just like the collection, Pon de Floor, the track played heavily in the runway mix is still something I am addicted and awkwardly dance to.

Just like his previous collections, this one continue to push the identity of Wang's brand. The summer collection prior to this brought back denim jackets and Alex showed his take on colours. For this collection, it was khaki and a heavy influence on sportswear. Of course all with the Alexander Wang touch of cool updates on classics.

What I love most about this collection is the mixing of fabrics in one garment. He may have done denim and leather jacket before but he takes it one step further. He puts khaki, denim, AND sweatshirt sleeves all in one jacket. Or leather, nylon, and cotton together in one vest. Both pieces I have and love.

And if you need any more convincing, this show debuted the Freja Boots, arguably Wang's most successful shoe. During that season it would become the most popular in editorials, an honour taken usually by Prada or Balenciaga.
